Comparison of Three Types of Thermometers

Question: Discuss about a Comparison of Three Types of Thermometers? Answer: Introduction There are various types of thermometers available in the market. It should be taken a note that the correct thermometer should be used for the defined job in the desired field. A medically used thermometer is unsuitable in the industrial purposes. One of the mostly used thermometer is the Analogue Thermometer which is often very cheap and easily available in the medical stores (Portable Field Thermometer, 2011). They are Mercury filled and used for checking the temperature of patients suffering from fever. It has a simple display with both Celsius and Fahrenheit scales, can be immersed in liquids and requires low maintenance. ATH-410 is an example of such thermometers. The Tympanic Thermometer which is generally placed in the one third region of the external ear and the receiver cap is replaced after each usage. Like the Analogue Thermometer it is portable, easy to handle and use. In the Infrared Thermometer, temperature analysis is performed in non-contact materials. It is highly sp ecialised for high or low surface temperatures (Compact infrared thermometer, 2014). They are fast, accurate, have dual sensors, probes can be interchangeable and high resolution. Purpose of the Study The aim of this study is to compare the body temperature and its related aspects of young individuals of 453 students regarding three different types of measurement tools. A set of temperature is collected to analyse the measurements. It was determined that, although the measurement values of the tympanic membrane and chemical dot thermometers conformed with each other, the conformity of the non-contact infrared thermometer was weak. It also demonstrates the types of measurements like invasive and noninvasive methods. Research Objective To analyse the different body temperatures using three different types of thermometer. The measurements are done under normal temperature or room temperature (25 degree Celsius). In both of the cases the external conditions remains same. Research Question Is Sund Levender Hypothesis relevant for detection of the body temperature at normal physiological conditions? Methodology The study was research based which followed some predefined set of procedures and regulations. It also takes sample to analyse the matter in brief. It also covers some tools or instruments to proceed with the research (Basak, 2012).The research population composing of the students in the two departments of University of Ankara was taken and the sample size was noted ((Haman, et al., 2010). It was stated to be of 410 people using the G* Power software. A consideration was taken of about 90-95% of the correlations so provided had coefficient designed as alpha and 5% with beta. Total 452 students fitting to the inclusion criteria was allowed to participate. Students with infection in the mouth mucosa lesion or any other type of infections was excluded from the research work (Pulizzi, 2014). Ethical considerations: An ethical approval was obtained from the institutional head prior to the beginning of the study. Instruments generally used were the 3M Tempa DOT chemical dot thermometer, Thermosense non-contact infrared thermometer and a Tympanic Thermometer. Prior to the experiment it was taken a note that the students do not encounter with any hot or cold food materials (Ilce, 2015). Calibration of the thermometers were performed and held at RT for 10 minutes. Body temperature measurement was carried out in four folds, two from RT auditory canal, and two from LT with the tympanic thermometer. 3 measurement per subject with non-contact infrared thermometer was done and 1 with Chemical Dot Thermometer (CDOT) (Rey, 2010). Time taken was 3-5 minutes per participant. Total 3616 measurement was performed. The data was evaluated by Statistical Package for Social Sciences. Mean, Standard Deviation, Frequencies and Percentages was performed. Finally a graphical representation was performed by Bland-Atman graph sheet (Infrared Thermometer. (2011). Result Among the participants 44.9% male candidates and 55.1% female candidates were taken. The average age was 19.66 and 83.9% were normal weighed. The average temperature obtained was 36.71 for CDOT, 36.78 for tympanic thermometer and 36.22 for infrared thermometer. Validities was compared and interclass correlation was found out to be 0.867 for clinical dot thermometer and tympanic thermometer whereas it is 0.805 for non-contact infrared thermometer. It re measurability it was denoted that interclass correlation was 0.904 with tympanic and 0.909 with infrared thermometer. So it can be statistically denoted that there is a strong co relation among the values. At high temperatures it is observed that the working capacity of the infrared thermometer has reduced as compared to the other two types. Discussion Findings: The OMT was measured to be around 36.71à ¢Ã‚ Ã‚ °C whereas that of tympanic mean temperature was 36.78à ¢Ã‚ Ã‚ °C and forehead mean temperature was 36.22à ¢Ã‚ Ã‚ °C (Noone, S2012). This can be related to the Sund-Levender temperature value of 33.2à ¢Ã‚ Ã‚ °C-38.2à ¢Ã‚ Ã‚ °C for oral temperature and 35.4à ¢Ã‚ Ã‚ °C-37.8à ¢Ã‚ Ã‚ °C for tympanic thermometer. Hence we can conclude that the experimental values coincides with the literature values of body temperature (Zhu, 2015). Limitations: Students who have faced any physical problem in the last seven dates before the test was excluded from the research. Normal youth will be taken as an example. Even The students who were diagnosed with any type of infection within the last 7 days were also excluded from the analysis. Age will be same for all the individuals. Only one measurement also performed with the chemical dot thermometer. Recommendations: It is suggested that similar studies should be conducted with different age groups and different thermometers and with adults who have high body temperatures. Another publication by http://www. Cesspits. Info k, lets get down to why you are REALLY reading this book. Lets look at focus, confidence and self-discipline and see what we can do to make things work for you! Focus Focus is a scary word to most people. What can it do for us? How can it help us? Can we program ourselves to focus? Focus, confidence and selfishness all work hand in hand with each other.Learning to focus can help us in many ways. It can help us realize what we really want in life, it can help us make good and informed decisions. It can also help us to accept ourselves Just the way we are, without feeling the need to condemn ourselves or put ourselves down in any way, shape or form. Focus can help us gain confidence, power and happiness. Focus can also help us remain grounded and stay on track. Focus can change confusion into absolute knowledge and self-criticism into love for oneself. Always be aware that you ARE able to focus on what you want, and to focus your thoughts on anything at all.Try it now by thinking about the dishes, now change your focus and think about your car. Switch focus gain and think about a dog. It really is that easy to focus on whatever you want to focus on. We all need to learn to set aside time to be used on the one thing we want or need to focus on. Its not a matter of taking the time to focus, but more a matter of making the time. If we are willing to make the time, we will focus a lot better on whatever it is you want or need to do. You ask me how I can possibly make time to focus with four demanding children, 3 dogs and a new house?Easy, I can stay up for an extra hour when all the kids are in bed and the house is quiet, and MAKE the time o focus on what Im doing with absolutely no distractions at all. Oh, thats right; you work too, so youre too tired to stay up late. How about getting up half an hour early, before the madness at home begins? Before you go to bed, get everything ready for your early morning focus time so that you dont have to run around looking for it when youre half awake. Of course, this means you have to have a plan of action ready beforehand. Decide when you are going to make time, and stick to it like glue.Dont let ANYTHING take you away from that time. Make sure you have everything you Unplug the phone, turn off the television, and dont even listen to quiet background music. Whatever happens around you will distract you unless you learn how to focus. Sometimes it seems easier to Just go along with these distractions than to focus on the end goal. Remember, if you let yourself go along with the distractions, you are losing sight of your goals. Sharpen your vision of what you want or you WILL be at the mercy of your environment. When you want something you have to decide EXACTLY what it is you want.If you dont know what you want, theres no way on earth youre going to be able to focus on it. So you want to pass that driving test that youve taken and failed umpteen times, or you want to pass that really important exam in school. You might want to write a book, or build a website, run your own business, be a teacher or any number of different things. The main thing is you have to KNOW thats what you want, and you have to set your aims high and demand yourself to focus on getting it. Once you decide what you want, you have to decide WHY you want it.Visualize yourself in that brand new Mercedes or BMW, or in front of that school desk teaching the kids geography. The vision makes you feel good, right? So thats why you want it, it feels good to do what you want to do, be who you want to be and own what you want to own. Visualization is a major part in being able to focus. If you can actually see yourself in the position you want to be in, then its so much easier to focus on the task of getting there. The next thing you have to do is to decide how youre going to actually get what you want. What are you willing to sacrifice in the quest to get those great exam grades? What can you do without in order to start up your own business? How can you make your family life happier and more peaceful? Sit back and close your eyes, imagining what it will be like to have what you want in life, and think long and hard about what you can give up so that you can get there. Say you want a new sofa, but the only way you can get one is if you quit smoking. Envision the sofa, with you and your partner cuddling up on it. What color is it? Is it big and fluffed up, or is it a small ultra-modern sofa? Focus on the sofa and want it badly enough, you WILL stop smoking so you can get it.These are all small things and perfectly attainable with a little bit of focus, but what if you want bigger and better things than that? Well then you set goals for yourself. First overcome the exams, once that goal is reached go get that driving license. Next you get a brand spanking new BMW. Keep setting goals; as soon as you reach the first one, move on to the next, staying focused all the time on what it is you want. Reaching that first goal will give you an incredible boost of confidence, which in turn will make it so much easier to get started on the next goal. The more goals you reach, the more confidence you will have in yourself and that will fuel the success of the next goal, and the next one after that, until there are endless possibilities for you. Start off by writing down each and every goal you WANT to reach in your lifetime. Go to bed at night, it gives your brain time to take it all in and work with it. Its amazing what the brain will do when we are sleeping. Also, writing the plan the night before helps free up that time during the next day so that you can purely sit and focus on the task at hand.Make the plan a numbered list and cross each item off as you finish it. Youll be amazed at how quickly you get through it this way. Once youve reached the outcome you want, move on to your next goal following the same pattern as before. If you find your thoughts wandering in your focus time take a break, write down your thoughts and put them away somewhere for future reference. If you find there are multiple things you can do to attain your goals, fugue out which of them is the one most likely to help you get there quickest. Put the others on hold, they may come in useful when youre aiming for that next goal.If you lock your focus, and stick with it for as long as you have to, you WILL succeed. If you stick to one thing, one goal and focus on that, its virtually impossible to not reap the rewards of your actions. Confidence Before we start, please keep one thing in mind; Confidence and arrogance are two totally different things. If you confuse the two, you will most certainly become a very unhappy person with very few real friends. Arrogance is NOT a quality and it wont help you reach your goals any faster. Confidence in oneself, or the lack thereof is what stops people from getting tightly focused on what they want to achieve. That little voice telling them they cant do something is their biggest I-IN-motivator. What can YOU do to gain confidence? 25 Tips Toward Boosting Your Confidence and Self Esteem. 1. Love Yourself: This can take a bit of practice and looks really funny, but try it, it works. A hundred percent of the wells are successful. Therefore, the company is not likely going to luck products. The second strength is the dedicated employees of the company. The company has dedicated employees ready to work to their best. Lastly, the company has a pool of experienced management who are ready to take up the company to the next level. The company has several weaknesses that can pull it down. According to Mr. Goodrich the decision making process of the company is very slow. The company finds it difficult to make timely decisions. The second one is the company’s is inflexibility. This means they are not able to accept changes quickly. The last one is that the company is very slow to embrace technology in the field of drilling. The Company is very reluctant in allowing new technology to be used in the wells. According to Mr. Goodrich, the company has opportunities. The first opportunity is expansion. The second opportunity is the company’s ability to increase its employment range and packages for its employees. This means that the employees have the opportunity to grow while working with Goodrich. Lastly, the company has the opportunity to increase their product from oil and gases to spare parts of different automobile machines. Children's rights Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Children's rights - Essay Example Despite the fact that politics takes a central place in deciding which way children rights take in given nations, it has always reeled against the lack of consensus among stakeholders marginalising political science in discussions of children rights as Beetham (1995:1) observes. As Forsythe (1991: 174) postulates, a significant majority of political scientists do not contend the perception that children rights and human rights in general are critical aspects of international relations. According to Lukes (1993:20), there are very peculiar trends that register in children rights assessments; among them is the prevalent characteristic where virtually nobody rejects the promotion of the idea of preservation of children rights yet reports of abuses of children are wrought in news agencies. One aspect worth noticing is the inverse relationship between the high political will to promote human rights and the waning philosophical commitment. Primarily, philosophy has been conspicuously scept ical about the idea of human rights with its undesirable ontological status of human rights and more specifically children rights. Conservatives that constituted the French aristocracy, as Burke (1964:25) observes, contended that astute human rights and thus children rights could only prosper on a platform of distinctive state cultural frameworks enshrined in the nation’s legal framework which form the basis for their formation and as such their appropriateness. The United Nations Children’s Fund with its endeavour entrenched in the Convention on the rights of the child is the pioneer penal code that spells the broad diversity of the rights that individuals are entitled to throughout the world. These rights vary from person to person and constitute civil, economic as well as social together with political and cultural ones. The differing needs that characterise adult needs when compared to children’s were the motivation

The Meaning of Home (Tim Obrien, Joyce Carol Oates, Doris Lessing) Essay Example for Free

The Meaning of Home (Tim Obrien, Joyce Carol Oates, Doris Lessing) Essay By showing what home means for their characters, authors can render certain themes of the novel, demonstrate several different meanings of the word home, or, underscore significant aspects of the personality of the figure in question. In Doris Lessings novel The Fifth Child, the characters Harriet and Davids home represents their dream about the perfect family and the perfect life and by illustrating this to the reader Lessing reveals how they are committing hubris . Also, in the novel The Things They Carried by Tim OBrien, the character Norman Bowker returns home in order to gain understanding of his own feelings, and therefore home is more seen as a place for support and acceptation. Furthermore, in Joyce Carol Oates short story Stray Children, Charles Benedicts study and the nature of it reflects the characters personal qualities. Firstly, home can be seen as a dream of the future. In The Fifth Child, Harriet and David dream about the perfect family and life. They buy a house that is too big for them, wishing to fill it with smiling and happy children. On the other hand, they are experiencing economical hardships and are forced to borrow money from Davids father in order to cope with the situation they have put themselves in. Still, even though they have to have access to extra money in order to endure, they continue the get more and more children. It is mentioned how they believe that David would a higher salary some time soon and everything will work out. They, in a way, buy the house for what they wish it will represent in the future. Lessing conveys this by showing how Harriet and David take the money they receive for granted and promise their families that it will pay off in the long run. This concept of taking something for granted because they think that they are worth it can be seen as an act of hubris. Thus, by showing what home signify for Harriet and David Lessing underlines the theme of hubris. Secondly, home can also represent the characters essential needs. In The Things They Carried, Norman Bowker returns home from the warfront and the thing he requires the most from society and his family is understanding. He desperately needs to talk, but there is no one there who wants to listen to him. It revealed how he circles the lake in his home town and honks his horn to a few boys while he passed them, but how neither of them even looked up. This can be seen as a metaphor for how Bowker was trying to tell society about his experiences and emotions and how society did not even care to hear him out. The scene ends with him continuing to drive around the lake more than ten times and imagining how a conversation between his father and him about his wartime experiences would turn out. By not getting what he needed and therefore resorting to taking his own life, Bowker embodies the damage war can do to a soldier long after the war is over. OBrien shows how the idea of home represents our deepest and fundamental needs and that when those are not fulfilled we suffer. Thirdly, the characters idea of the perfect home can also reflect upon certain traits of this person. In Stray Children, Charles Benedict lives a successful, immaculate and steady life. These aspects of his life also characterise his study. It is rendered how Benedict always liked his study because it was always the same and unharmed. By mentioning the fact why he likes his room, Oates can highlight some important aspects of his personality. In sum, by showing what home means, authors can convey what the character dreams of and want, needs and can not live without, and, draw attention to certain personal qualities off the character. Rendering what home means can be significant in many different ways. In the first example, Lessing conveys the theme of hubris by showing Harriet and Davids dream and then contrasting it to their reality; they take the money they receive for granted since they think that they are worth it and therefore should have the money. Also, in the second case, OBrien renders how home may not always literally mean home as in the place where you live, but it can also stand for our basic needs. Moreover, in the third instance, Oates uses the meaning of home in order to stress certain features of the character in question. However, the meaning of home is not restricted to being just one thing. OBrien can also show how Bowker is a character who needs constant support and is too weak to handle the hardships himself by rendering how Bowker desperately needed comfort when he returned home. As in the case with Charles Benedict and his study, home can also be used to show how he thinks, how he wants the city to look like in his role as a city planner. Oates can therefore also deliver social criticism through illustrating the meaning of home; how Benedict wants everything to look perfect and therefore he plans the city without taking the living conditions of certain people into consideration. In addition, the first example with Harriet and David and their view of home can also help the reader characterise them as determined people with set goals in the future and perhaps somewhat inconsiderate of their future troubles that they may face by ignoring the problems they are already experiencing. Hence, home does not only mean one thing but the reader can often draw several significant pieces of information out from it.

Female Spirituality and Sexuality Explored Through Zora Neale Hurston’s

Zora Neale Hurston, while living in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, was researching voodoo on the most scholarly level. She was studying with Haiti’s most well known hougans and mambos, or priests and priestesses. At this time she was gathering knowledge about voodoo so she could write the text, Tell My Horse. Also, at this same time Hurston had finished writing, Their Eyes Were Watching God in only seven short weeks. A close reading of this novel provides the reader with a relationship between voodoo and the text. Hurston not only explores female spirituality and sexuality in, Their Eyes Were Watching God, but weaves the two together revealing that voodoo culture plays an important role within the novel especially in the comparisons between the voodoo goddess Erzulie and the texts main character Janie Crawford. Hurston exploits the society in which Janie Crawford lives in. Hers is a society in which she is not allowed to live freely and express herself freely. She is suppressed in her society because she is a woman and because she is African-American. Hurston understands this oppression and she uncovers the truth on the status of black females at this time. There were no powerful roles available to them in their American culture or in their African-American culture. Women were looked down on and they were not seen as potentially strong spiritual and sexual people. Hurston opens the door for her protagonist, Janie Crawford, to create a more substantial and empowering life for herself after the many hardships she faces. She leads her down a path to self-determination and this path is embodied by the spirituality of voodoo. â€Å"The old, old mysticism of the world in African terms...a religion of creation and life† (Tell My Horse 376).This i... ...oodoo, which stands in the novel to tie in the value of self-discovery is integral to the story’s comparisons between Janie and Erzulie. Voodoo is believed to have played a shapely role in the Haitian revolution in which Haiti won its independence from France. The integration of voodoo imagery and symbolism throughout, Their Eyes Were Watching God, reflects Hurston’s belief that self-discovery for African-American women lies not in their male dominated society, but rather in their understanding of their own sexual and spiritual strength. Hurston achieves this idea greatly by linking the female goddess Erzulie with Janie Crawford. Works Cited Tell My Horse. 1938. rptd. in Hurston: Folklore, Memoirs and Other Writings. ed.
